This visual will serve as an excellent resource for students during our fraction unit. It shows the size of each fraction which will assist students when comparing fractions. Students can see 1/2 is bigger than 1/8. It also shows equivalent fractions. Students will notice 1/2 = 2/4, 3/6, and 4/8. They will see 1/4 = 2/8 and 3/4 = 6/8. Also 1/3 = 2/6 and 2/3 = 4/6. Please pay attention to the key. One circle = 2 people. So 6 circles should be drawn for Basketball to show 12 people. A half circle represents half of 2, which is 1. So for Baseball you should draw 4 full circles to represent 8 people and a half circle to represent 1 more person for a total of 9 people.
